5 Days Desert Experience in Morocco Departing from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora

Depart early in the morning from Marrakech towards Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Grand South, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka, offering extraordinary landscapes. Before reaching Ouarzazate, visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its film sets. Enjoy lunch at this site, set in a beautiful natural setting.

Continue towards Zagora along the left bank of the Draa River, discovering the Draa Valley. Upon arrival in Zagora, meet the attentive staff, enjoy dinner, and spend the night in a comfortable desert bivouac.

Day 2: Zagora – Tazzarine – Alnif – Merzouga

After breakfast, depart from Zagora towards Merzouga, passing through Tazzarine and its beautiful villages supported by Jbel Tizouguirene. Head to Alnif through a vast rocky plain. Lunch will be at Tazzarine. In the afternoon, continue to Merzouga and Rissani Mecissi. Enjoy dinner and a night in a Merzouga bivouac, with a Saharan cultural performance including drums and a campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Dades

After breakfast, depart for Erfoud. Visit the town, then head to Tinghir, famous for its lush palm grove. Lunch in Tinghir. In the afternoon, visit the Todra Gorges, impressive rocky cliffs often used in film productions.

Dinner and overnight in a beautiful riad.

Day 4: Tinghir – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, depart for Ouarzazate via the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” along the Dades Valley, about 150 km, between the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains. Admire the fortified clay villages. On the way, pass through Klaa M’Gouna, a charming village famous for its roses. In the afternoon, visit Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight in a 4-star hotel.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Depart for Marrakech via Tizi n’Tichka, the highest pass in the country, often snow-covered for much of the year. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon.
